Trish Cox, Landscape Design
In March of 2019 I began working on designing a yard in Marsh Harbor which is located in the Abaco Bahamas. In the end we had a beautiful design with several large specimen palms and tree, a new paver driveway over 3,000sf, new front walls and patio areas and I had no idea how it would all get accomplished. Fortunately everyone on the project was extremely organized, the onsite contractor built all the concrete elements and help complete the job so we kept to our timeline for installing the landscaping. The owner of the home was experienced with importing and was able to handle ordering all the plants, supplies and pavers needed. I collected bids from three reputable landscape contractors for the installation, found an amazing plant broker, recommended a paver contractor and irrigation and lighting companies. The paver driveway was completed in late May and in early June I flew in to Marsh Harbor for seven days and began the landscape installation. Early July I was back in Marsh Harbor teaching a crew proper maintenance techniques so that they can maintain this home as well as several others that are owned by my client.
While working on the above project I was also able to design and install a landscape re-fresh at another home on Marsh Harbor. Since this second project was unplanned I used locally sourced plant materials for the install.
Long Island Bahamas
In 2022 I continued to design landscapes in the Bahamas with three projects taking place on Long Island. I chose not to be involved in the installation of these project solely because of the volume of design work and installations I currently had in the Florida Keys. All work on my part was done using surveys, Drone footage, pictures and topography mapping of the areas. Each client used their home builder to coordinate the installation process and they sent pictures upon completion.
